The New York Knicks reportedly haven't been given any assurances Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant will sign with them in free agency this summer, according to Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders.

Irving and Durant become unrestricted free agents on July 1. The Knicks have cap space to sign both stars and also been heavily linked to Irving and Durant:

The idea that Irving and Warriors forward Kevin Durant have already decided on New York has been shot down by both people close to Irving and people close to the Knicks. The Knicks remain hopeful they can pair two elite stars with their promising young core, but they haven’t been given any assurances from anyone, including Irving, according to sources close to the Knicks.

Irving said at the beginning of the 2018-19 season he was planning on re-signing with the Celtics. Uncle Drew changed his tone during the season and said he'll make his decision once free agency starts.

There are some around the league, including David Griffin, who believe Irving prefers to play for the Brooklyn Nets.

Durant, meanwhile, has been long linked to the Knicks. Durant's business partner, Rich Kleiman, is a New York native and lifelong fan of the team.

There has even been talk that the Knicks could offer Kleiman a front-office job if Durant signs with New York.
