Former New York Knick and now Dallas Mavericks forward Kristaps Porzingis received some unpleasantries in his first trip back to Madison Square Garden.

The rowdy New York crowd chanted “asshole” as the 7’3 Latvian big shot his free throws with seven seconds left before halftime in the Dallas Mavericks’ road game versus the Knicks on Thursday.

He had a strong start against his former team, notching 12 points and eight rebounds at the time of the jeers.

Porzingis was drafted fourth overall by the Knicks in the 2015 draft. His selection was widely ostracized by New York fans, who believed the team could have done better with their selection.

He erased those negative thoughts in his rookie year, posting 14.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.9 blocks per game and finishing second to Karl Anthony Towns in the Rookie of The Year voting.

Porzingis continued to get better in the coming years and made the All-Star team in just his third season as a pro. He tore his ACL back in February and missed out the entirety of the 2018-19 season. He was traded to the Mavs in the offseason, after expressing his desire to leave New York.
