The talk during every NBA Draft always centers around the prospects, and rightfully so, as draft day is their day. Prospects work their whole life to get to this moment, and they deserve all of the attention they get. However, sometimes family members and significant others draw the spotlight during the draft, and that was the case with Kyle Filipowski and his fiancée, Caitlin Hutchinson.

The Duke prospect's love interest went viral as the big man fell down draft boards, and we are going to take a closer look at their relationship in this article.

Kyle Filipowski was viewed as one of the best prospects in the 2024 NBA Draft and a likely late first-round pick. The Duke product became one of the most notorious collegiate players during his time with the Blue Devils, as he was viewed as the latest of a long list of Duke villains.

Filipowski was one of the top 10 recruits in the nation out of high school, and he immediately lived up to the hype during his freshman season. The center started all 36 games with the team in his first season while averaging 15.1 points and nine rebounds per game. Duke fans were thrilled when he decided to come back to campus for a second season, even though the NBA Draft was a realistic option last year.

The skilled big took his game to new heights in year two, and he became one of the biggest stars in the entire sport. As a prospect, he became valued for his ability to stretch the floor as a near 7-footer. The center has a rare ability for someone his size to be able to knock down jump shots and put the ball down on the floor.

He gained nationwide notoriety when he got caught in a crowd storming after a devastating loss that left the big man injured. The incident created debate throughout the sports world on if crowd storms should or shouldn't be banned.

Filipowski moved on from the incident to have a productive sophomore campaign, though, and he positioned himself to be drafted in the first round in 2024. Then the unexpected happened, and the Duke prospect fell out of the first round. The surprising draft day fall caused fans to wonder what exactly it was the prevented him from being drafted when he was expected to.

Who is Kyle Filipowski's fiancée, Caitlin Hutchison?

After Kyle Filipowski fell out of the first round, a clip went viral online of the big man being comforted by his significant other, as the center was the rare green room invite not to be drafted on day one. The clip was nothing out of the ordinary, but then the story of Filipowski and his fiancée took a turn.

A clip from the Lowe Post podcast went viral that explained one of the reasons Filipowski fell in the draft was allegedly because of his fiancée (who was identified as his girlfriend in the podcast). Jonathan Givony reported that the love interest, who was eventually identified online as Caitlin Hutchison, was much older at 25 years old, that the two's relationship estranged the Duke product from his family and created a lot of question marks during the pre-draft process.

Twitter users identifying as Filipowski's family members responded to the viral clip and stated that Hutchison is actually 28 years old. It was reported that the reason for his fall out with the family was because the two started dating when Filipowski was still in high school as a part of his partner's plan to get married after the center finished his time at Duke.

None of these sources are verified, and that being the reason for Filipowski's draft day fall is complete speculation. However, Hutchison's Instagram does indicate that the two are now engaged.

Filipowski's draft day skid ended early during the second round as the Utah Jazz selected the prospect with the second pick in the second round. More details will likely emerge on this story, but for now, that is all of the information that we have on Kyle Filipowski and the story surrounding his fiancée.
