The Los Angeles Lakers and the Miami Heat took part in an epic overtime showdown on Wednesday in what was a rematch of the 2020 NBA Finals. The Lakers came out on top after an extra period, 120-117, and this was thanks in large part to a career performance by LA shooting guard Malik Monk.

Monk, who joined the Lakers this summer as part of the team's offseason overhaul, just produced his best game as a member of the Purple and Gold. The 23-year-old finished with a team-high 27 points on a scorching hot 10-of-13 from the field and 4-of-7 from three-point territory. Monk's epic performance prompted a bit of an unsavory reaction from Heat big man Bam Adebayo, who decided to jump on Monk's IG comments section (h/t Sam Leweck of Heat Nation):

Bam Adebayo and Malik Monk

Monk was celebrating his memorable effort from Wednesday night with a couple of photos on his Instagram. Adebayo caught wind of the Lakers guard's post and quickly responded with a single, NSFW emoji. There's no need to explain what Bam meant with his middle-finger gesture towards Monk.

To give this exchange some context, though, it is worth noting that Monk and Adebayo were teammates at the University of Kentucky. The pair clearly have a strong bond from their college days, which allows them to have this type of not-so-friendly banter on the mean streets of Instagram.
