Miami Heat icon Dwyane Wade made it clear that the 2018-19 campaign would be his last in the NBA. Some have wondered if Flash might be willing to make a return to the league. However, it sounds like the three-time champion is content with his decision. In fact, he says even his longtime friend, Lakers superstar LeBron James, wouldn't be able to change his mind.

Wade recently joined Rohan Nadkarni of Sports Illustrated for a wide-ranging interview. Amid their discussion, Nadkarni sked Wade if James might be able to get him to come out of retirement. Wade, who knows The King better than just about anyone, says he would decline.

Via Sports Illustrated:

SI: If LeBron called you tonight and said he needs 11 minutes a night, what would you tell him?

Wade: That I can’t do it, but I’m sure there’s somebody in the NBA highly capable. But it’s not me.

Wade, now 37 years of age, went on a magnificent farewell tour in 2018-19 after announcing it would be his last:

“This is a tough decision for me,” Wade said of his decision to retire in an interview with ESPN. “I've been playing (basketball) since I was five years old.

“Ultimately, I just wanted to give my fans an opportunity to say goodbye. And give me an opportunity to say goodbye as well.”

Wade established himself as one of the greatest 2-guards the NBA has ever known. The former Marquette Golden Eagle played in 1,054 games over the course of his career, racking up averages of 22.0 points on 48.0 percent shooting from the field (29.3 percent from beyond the arc), 5.4 assists, 4.7 rebounds, 1.5 steals and just under one block (0.8) in 33.9 minutes per outing. As of today, his 23,165 points rank 29th on the NBA's all-time points scored list, while his 5,701 assists rank 41st.
