The Los Angeles Lakers are breezing their way through their start to the season, now with a 24-3 mark that puts them at the top along with the Milwaukee Bucks. Yet the Lakers aren't merely putting together long win streaks, but also providing a show in ways that haven't been seen since the Showtime days.

LeBron James darted a between-the-legs pass to Dwight Howard for a dunk and faked a block of Rajon Rondo as he scored a layup against the Atlanta Hawks. Center JaVale McGee argued the Lakers need more than Ws in their win-loss column,  but also a sprinkle of flair to go with it to stay true to their mojo:

“It kept us honest. It just kept us happy,” McGee said of the flair exhibited in their 101-96 win over the Hawks, according to Kyle Goon of The Orange County Register. “We need some of the flashy things to happen, just to keep us in our vibe. That’s our vibe: We do flashy things, we win ball games, and we have fun.”

While this Lakers roster won't be confused for a star-studded Showtime lineup, this team is giving fans at Staples Center and other venues a dose of that razzle-dazzle that made the purple and gold such a popular franchise in their heyday, now reborn with a new cast of players who are not content with just winning, but doing it in style.

That joy has proven to be the recipe for past championship teams like the Miami Heat and Golden State Warriors, who thrived with this concept and flourished with the results.
