Former Los Angeles Lakers big man Pau Gasol continues to be a big draw in Europe. He finished a decent campaign in his emotional return to FC Barcelona and he looks forward to lacing up again in the next season.

But in the meantime, Gasol has extra hours to reminisce about the good old days, especially his glory years in the NBA and as a mainstay of Spain in numerous international tournaments. In fact, he posted on Twitter an old picture of him and Yugoslavia's Peja Stojakovic going at it. In the caption, Gasol remembered making his debut for Spain exactly two decades ago.

“Today it is 20 years since I debuted with #LaFamilia ❤️ And you, what were you doing 20 years ago?”

We were not playing high-level basketball, for sure.

Since making his maiden stint for Spain in the 2001 EuroBasket, where the team won the bronze medal, Gasol has easily become one of the most accomplished players ever in Europe. He led Spain to the 2006 FIBA World Cup title and two more EuroBasket crowns in 2009 and 2011. He also won two silver medals from the 2008 Beijing Olympics and 2012 London Olympics, both bowing to USA in the finals.

Gasol is also the all-time leading scorer of the EuroBasket, jumping over France's Tony Parker in amassing 1,183 total points.

Stojakovic, meanwhile, also carved a solid career in the NBA and in international competitions, leading Yugoslavia to the 2002 FIBA World Cup title, memorably beating USA in the quarterfinals.

Pau Gasol will always be a Lakers legend, but he will forever be Spain's hero as well.
