Following his first full season with the Dallas Mavericks, guard Seth Curry has secured a significant role with the organization.

However, it appears that he will be sidelined for an extended period of time to start the year as Curry has reportedly suffered a stress reaction in his left leg, according to Mavericks' play-by-play commentator Mark Followill.

Curry is coming off his most productive campaign where he had career highs across the board by averaging 12.8 points on 48.1 percent from the field along with 42.5 from beyond the arc with 2.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.1 steals in 29.0 minutes. He had also experienced an uptick in his performance as a starter, averaging 14.7 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. This included dropping a career-high 31 points against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

He is set to enter the second year of his two-year, $6 million deal with the Mavericks. The 27-year-old's absence now shifts more of the offensive load and responsibility onto rookie point guard Dennis Smith Jr. while also elevating second-year guard Yogi Ferrell in an increased role.

As for Curry, there is currently no timetable in terms of when he will be able to return. It may force him to miss the first few months of the season.
