Tuesday is a sad day in the MLB. With lockout talks resuming, there was hope that the owners and players would be able to come to an agreement before the league's self-imposed deadline for the start of games getting canceled was hit. But it was not to be. The owners put forth a less-than-appealing offer, which the players unsurprisingly turned down. That officially ushered in the cancellation of regular season games. Many players had angry reactions to the news. Former Chicago Cubs World Series champion and New York Yankees free agent first baseman Anthony Rizzo had a heartfelt message for the players and fans amid the MLB lockout, which he shared via Twitter on Tuesday.

Yankees first baseman and MLB free agent Anthony Rizzo delivered a message directly to the fans and the players amid the lockout. It's a message that could be taken a couple of different ways. Rizzo interestingly says that the players “will miss the fans the most.”

Could the talented first baseman be hinting that there won't be any baseball played this season? It could be. However, it seems more likely that Rizzo is simply saying that he'll miss the fans the most on Opening Day, a staple in the MLB.

Rizzo also took the time to say that the lockout is for the “younger generation of baseball players.” The three-time All-Star and his fellow players have fought for improved rights for younger players, which is something they themselves didn't have when they were working their way up in the MLB.

Rizzo clearly has strong feelings about both the fans, who will suffer because of the lockout, and the young players, who are being fought for during the lockout.
