LaMelo Ball, one of the top prospects coming into the 2020 NBA Draft, along with brothers Lonzo and LiAngelo, plan to sign with Jay-Z's sports management company Roc Nation Sports, according to Jonathan Givony of ESPN. Agent Raymond Brothers will be the primary representative of the Ball brothers.

“This was a family decision,” Jermaine Jackson; LaMelo's business manager told ESPN. “This is now an extended family. They put together a beautiful game plan with Jay-Z. The basketball game is about to change. They are going to create something totally new.”

Roc Nation is an offshoot of the music company, and was founded by Shawn Carter (known as Jay-Z) in 2013. The company now represents NBA players, including Kyrie Irving, Markelle Fultz, and Spencer Dinwiddie, among others.

“We talked to several agents, but the family had good vibes with Roc Nation,” Jackson told ESPN. “I've known Jay-Z since I played for the Knicks, but this is what the kids wanted to do. Jay-Z is a master at what he does. He's global. It's power beyond power.

“This is something that they are building from the ground up together. They are brothers and they love each other and that's how they roll. It's all love. They don't separate from each other.”

Jackson represented LaMelo during his short stint overseas prior to finishing his lone season with the Illawarra Hawks of Australia's National Basketball League.

Unlike his brother Lonzo, who started his career wearing his own brand of sneakers, LaMelo is still looking for a shoe brand to sign him to a deal.

“He's still wide open,” said Jackson. “He hasn't signed with anyone. Everyone is kicking in the door. Melo is open to whatever. With this pandemic going on, we don't know what things are going to look like.”

It seems like for now, while there's no sneakers to wear, LaMelo has his feet in plenty of doorsteps with a rap mogul like Jay-Z at his side.
