The Phoenix Suns are acquiring some back court depth as they reportedly traded for Washington Wizards point guard Aaron Holiday. The trade happened less than an hour before the NBA's trade deadline expired, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.

Holiday has yet to make a significant impact in the NBA. He is averaging a little over six points per game this season for Washington. But in his fourth season, Holiday has only averaged more than 18 minutes per game once. Phoenix was looking to add a little depth behind Chris Paul and Devin Booker.

Meanwhile, the Wizards have been extremely active on deadline day. Shortly before news broke of this trade, it was announced that Washington was sending Montrezl Harrell to the Charlotte Hornets.

It was beginning to look like Washington was having a fire sale. Then, just minutes before the deadline expired, the Wizards flipped the narrative as they pulled off a blockbuster trade with the Dallas Mavericks.

The Wizards acquired former All-Star Kristaps Porzingis and a second round pick for a package including Spencer Dinwiddie and Davis Bertans.

The Phoenix Suns and Washington Wizards have been going in opposite directions. The Suns still have the best record in the NBA at 44-10, having won nine of their last 10 games. Meanwhile, the Wizards have lost eight of their last 10 games, falling all the way to the #11 seed in the Eastern Conference. They are 24-29 and a game and a half behind the Atlanta Hawks for the final spot in the Play In Tournament.
