After eight seasons of being in charge as the Boston Celtics' head coach, newly assigned president of basketball operations Brad Stevens is happy the team has a new coach. The Celtics' busy summer started off with a bang as former president Danny Ainge resigned after being part of the front office since 2013 which ultimately propelled Stevens to take over.
As his replacement, the franchise went with former Brooklyn Nets assistant coach Ime Udoka who now be calling the shots for the C's in his first-ever head coaching role. On Thursday, Stevens was quick to praise the 44-year-old while seemingly mocking himself in the process. According to Brian Robb of MassLive, Stevens thinks Udoka is a way better coach compared to him.
“Obviously, we improved our coaching,” Stevens said.

Udoka's arrival will definitely give the Celtics a fresh new perspective. After being under the realm of Brad Stevens for the past eight years, the organization is looking to turn a new page with Udoka calling the shots to hopefully push the Boston Celtics to the next level. Though the Celtics have enjoyed playoff success under Stevens' time, the team has failed to go past the ECF after three attempts in the past five seasons.
Aside from all these off-court changes, the Celtics did make some huge moves this summer. With Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown as their main focal points, the team re-signed point guard Marcus Smart to make sure their core stays intact. They've also managed to snag key players like Josh Richardson, Dennis Schroeder, and the comebacking Al Horford.
