Jayson Tatum had himself a solid outing in the Boston Celtics' Game 3 win over the Golden State Warriors. But according to at least one Los Angeles Lakers icon, his numbers don't hold a candle to his true impact on the win.
Magic Johnson was effusive in his praise of the Celtics star after the Game 3 Finals win.
“Superstar Jayson Tatum scored 27 points, but that doesn’t tell his impact on the game tonight. He made everyone on the Celtics better with 9 assists, many of which added to Marcus Smart’s 24 points, and he helped the role players play to their potential,” said Magic Johnson.

If there's anyone who knows how to impact the game in more ways than pure scoring, it's Magic Johnson. The Lakers legend knows a thing or two about making his teammates better, as longtime Celtics fans would vividly remember back in the eighties.
Jayson Tatum has always been a terrific scorer, very much known for piling on massive point totals. But he's made huge strides as a playmaker this season, seemingly taking the next step towards becoming an even more complete superstar.
Being able to use the threat of his passing game to keep defenders honest just helps the Celtics function better as a team. He's averaged 11 assists in Boston's two NBA Finals wins and had just three in their lone defeat.
If Jayson Tatum continues to make the Warriors pay for double-teams and tight coverages, the Celtics will be in good shape the rest of the way.
