The 11th overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft was a scoring machine in his lone year at the University of Kentucky. Monk averaged 19.8 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in his college career. He displayed a fantastic offensive skill set in college, and it appears Charlotte believes in him to do the same for them.
Monk averaged 6.7 points, 1.0 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 13.5 minutes per game during a tough rookie season. The production was not there, but neither were the minutes as he struggled on both ends of the floor.

This season, Monk is up to 23.9 minutes per game, resulting in 11.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.1 assists a contest. His shooting as remained inconsistent, though, as he's at just 35.1 percent from the field overall and 34.1 percent from 3. He posted similar shooting percentages as a rookie.
Monk has yet to start a single game for Charlotte. That's something that could potentially change this season, but he'll have to do more with the minutes he has right now.
Hornets All-Star point guard Kemba Walker is the team's first option, and rightfully so. When it comes to the other wing positions on the team, Jeremy Lamb and Nicholas Batum have received all of the starting nods. Malik Monk could take over for Lamb at some point, but the 20-year-old needs to show a lot more consistency.
