The Minnesota Wild have been active before the trade deadline, adding several pieces to their team, and they're still finding ways to improve. Their latest move should mean a lot to Marcus Foligno, as the Wild acquired his brother in a trade, according to NHL insider Frank Seravalli.

“Sources say [Wild] are closing in on acquiring Nick Foligno from Blackhawks,” Seravalli wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

The Blackhawks are receiving future considerations in the deal.

Foligno's name had been in trade rumors, and many thought he would possibly be traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets. In their latest practice, he spoke about his future, and stayed in the current mindset of him still being committed to the Blackhawks.

“[Blackhawks GM] Kyle [Davidson] and I have talked and we’re going through that process,” Foligno said. “As of right now, I’m Chicago Blackhawk, so I’m fully invested in what we’re doing, but I’ve obviously had that honest conversation and we’ll see where it goes.”

That scenario didn't last long, as he was traded the next day. For Foligno, he gets the chance to compete for a title while also playing alongside his brother.

The Wild have shown that they are serious about making a run in the playoffs, and they're building the depth to compete late in the season. They recently acquired Philadelphia Flyers' forward Bobby Brink for defenseman David Jiricek, and just a day ago, they acquired Jeff Petry from the Florida Panthers.

With just a few hours left until the deadline, it will be interesting to see if the Wild have more moves up their sleeve.
