The New York Knicks are hoping former CAA agent Leon Rose can save the franchise. Rose is the new president of basketball operations for the Knicks and being tasked to fix one of the most dysfunctional organizations in the NBA.

The Knicks haven't had a winning record or made the playoffs since the 2012-13 season. It's going to take Rose and his team a while to reconstruct the roster he inherited in the Big Apple. Before the 2019-20 campaign was suspended due to COVID-19, the Knicks were in 12th place in the Eastern Conference standings with a 21-45 record.

One immediate move Rose should consider making whenever the 2020 offseason period begins is trading power forward Julius Randle. Scott Perry and Steve Mills signed Randle to a lucrative three-year, $62.1 million contract last offseason in free agency. The lefty averaged 19.5 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 3.1 assists in 64 games this season while shooting 46.0 percent from the field, 27.7 percent from beyond the arc and 73.3 percent from the free-throw line.

Rose and Randle have a prior relationship because of CAA. However, the new Knicks' architect is open to either trading Randle or declining the team's option on his contract for the 2021-22 season, according to the New York Post's Marc Berman. New York is better off trading Randle so the franchise can get something in return, even if it's a late first-round pick or an early second-rounder.

Knicks players grew frustrated with Randle's unwillingness to pass the ball this season. The future of New York is R.J. Barrett and Mitchell Robinson. Neither youngster can develop properly if Randle isn't sharing the ball.

Further compounding Randle's fit with the Knicks is his poor 3-point shooting. Since Barrett and Robinson struggle from deep as well, New York has zero floor spacing on the court when Randle, Barrett, and Robinson are playing together. The Knicks would be foolish to trade Barrett or Robinson over Randle, who doesn't affect the game if he's not scoring the ball.

The former Los Angeles Laker doesn't find a way to help his teammates, so Rose should trade him this offseason and acquire more 3-point shooters to pair alongside Barrett and Robinson.
