Patriots QB Mac Jones gets words of encouragement from defensive star that will thrill fans

Patriots, Mac Jones

Mac Jones is preparing for the second year of his NFL career, and the New England Patriots are hoping that their young starting quarterback will show marked improvement by the time Week 1 of the 2022 NFL season rolls around. For now, Jones has seemingly adapted himself to the art of trash-talking at the pro football level, thanks in large part to Patriots safety Devin McCourty, who appears to have done a tremendous job of instilling in the former Alabama Crimson Tide signal-caller the right mentality.

Via Kayla Burton of the NFL Network:

“It’s been fun. He’s talking trash now. He’s got a little swag about him and I think that’s what we’ve all been encouraging him- Mac just being Mac.”

In his rookie season, Jones started all 17 games for the Patriots and had an up-and-down performance all throughout. He finished the season with 3,801 passing yards and 22 touchdowns against 13 interceptions, and even managed to lead New England to the playoffs. While the Patriots were quickly eliminated from the postseason by Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills, Jones at least got a taste of what it’s like to be a few wins away from the Super Bowl.

Jones is expected to be steadier in 2022, given the amount of experience Bill Belichick gave him as the starting quarterback of the storied franchise in his very first year in the league.
