New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady spent the first week of the NFL playoffs not on the field, but somewhere off it, as his team enjoyed a luxurious first-round bye in the postseason. Brady didn’t know which opponent the Pats will face next week until Philip Rivers and the Los Angeles Chargers ended the Super Bowl 53 dreams of the Baltimore Ravens with a 23-17 win at home on Sunday.

Now, Brady is looking forward to a colossal matchup with Rivers, a fellow veteran quarterback and senior citizen by NFL standards. In fact, Brady posted an image of him and Rivers on Instagram to further hype up the anticipated showdown in Foxboro next Sunday.

Brady is now Rivers’ biggest obstacle towards his Super Bowl aspirations. While Brady has built a Hall of Famer career on the strength of his five Super Bowl titles and numerous postseason successes, Rivers is mostly known as a great quarterback with zero Super Bowl rings to show. If Rivers and the Chargers get past the Patriots, he’ll just be a win away from making it to the grandest stage of football.

Of course, that’s going to be easier said than done. For one, the Patriots have won each of their last four meetings with the Chargers dating back to 2010. Moreover, New England is 2-0 in the playoffs against the Chargers, though, the last time the two teams met in the postseason was 10 years ago.

In any case, the stage is set for Brady and Rivers to see who among them will deliver their team tickets for the AFC Championship Game.
