The New Orleans Pelicans have listed superstar big man Anthony Davis as questionable to play on Wednesday against the Chicago Bulls.

Davis suffered a left index finger injury on Jan. 18 and has been out ever since. The Pelicans initially said AD would be out one to two weeks.

The NBA trade deadline is on Feb. 7. The prevailing thought around the league is that the Pelicans don't want to play Anthony Davis so he doesn't hurt himself again and diminish his trade value for the summer. Davis has an extensive injury history.

When he spoke to reporters last week for the first time since his trade request, Davis said he planned on playing for the Pelicans again this season if he was still on the team past the trade deadline. It's unclear, though, if New Orleans is on board with that plan. The star big man reportedly wanted to play Monday against the Indiana Pacers, but the Pelicans wouldn't let him.

In 41 games this season, Davis is averaging 29.3 points, 13.3 rebounds and 4.4 assists per contest. The 25-year-old Chicago native is shooting 50.8 percent from the field, 32.5 percent from beyond the arc and 81.2 percent from the free-throw line.

Davis has 32 double-doubles on the season and is second in the NBA in player efficiency rating and points per game. The Pelicans are 20-21 when The Brow plays.
