Late in the third quarter,  he forced a turnover on Suns star Devin Booker and raced to their court. With the wide-open lane, Porter could’ve easily made a lay-up. But that would be too, um, normal. Things, however, haven’t been as smooth, with KPJ missing several games due to injuries and mental health concerns. He has also <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/sports/nba/players/kevin-porter-jr./ba400a28/stats">struggled with efficiency</a>.</p><p>But that’s par for the course for any young player. Porter and his running mate Jalen Green, a 20-year-old rookie, comprise arguably the youngest backcourt in the league, and the learning curve is pretty high for them.</p><p>For sure, though, they can also jump pretty high.</p><p>After putting up a gallant stand, the Rockets eventually fell to the Suns, 129-112. Porter finished with 21 points, four rebounds, eight assists, and two steals. Due to their rebuilding nature, the team has suffered some ugly losses. However, an encouraging development for them has been Kevin Porter Jr., who has been coming along nicely as a great young player for this squad.</p><p>However, even the best players make some mistakes at times. During the waning moments of a tough 139 – 120 Rockets loss to the Toronto Raptors, Porter Jr. attempted a bounce trick shot on their own basket. Surprisingly enough… it went in, and the basket was counted as a two-pointer for the Raptors. Luckily, it happens during the final seconds of a blowout, so it didn’t really matter that much. Still, it looked like he was attempting a self alley-oop Dunk Contest-style, but madly misjudged the bounce of the ball.</p><p>Kevin Porter Jr. has been good for the Rockets this season. However, the issues surrounding him have more to do with <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/rockets-news-kevin-porter-jr-deep-rooted-issues-that-led-to-controversial-outburst-vs-nuggets/">his attitude off the court</a>. He, along with Christian Wood, got disciplined for conduct detrimental to the team. It’s also worth noting that before his stint in Houston, he had some… well, issues in Cleveland.</p><p>Porter’s still young, though, with a long career ahead of him. The Rockets are hoping that Porter Jr. develops into a playoff-caliber point guard, at the very least. Steph ignored his opponent and admitted after the contest that he used it as a “boost” to perform better.</p><p>Curry finished with 40 points, five rebounds and nine assists as he finally broke out of his slump. He propelled the Dubs to a 122-108 win to extend their win streak to six.</p><p>“Fun stuff like that happens in the game,” Curry told <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/warriors-news-stephen-curry-gets-100-real-on-kevin-porter-jr-trash-talk/" rel="noopener">Mark Haynes of ClutchPoints</a>. “I take it all as entertainment and sometimes you need a little boost. I never really play into it much. Obviously, I didn’t say anything back so just hoop and have fun with it.”</p><p>Upon hearing what her husband said, though, Ayesha Curry couldn’t help but be more impressed with Steph.
