Charlie Brown isn't just same character from Peanuts. According to St. Joe's head coach Phil Martelli, he has similarities to former SJU talented Delonte West.

Yes, Cleveland Cavaliers and numerous other NBA teams, that Delonte West.

In an interview with FanRag Sports writer Jon Rothstein, Phil Martelli discussed how Brown reminds him of West in a very specific way:

“His work ethic is on a Delonte West level right now,” Saint Joseph’s head coach Phil Martelli said to Rothstein on Wednesday. “Delonte is the guy that he’s most comparable to right now in terms of being in the gym. He had a terrific freshman season, but he’s going off the bounce more now and he’s got more range. He’s also more committed defensively.”

For those only aware of the unfortunate aspects of West's life, he was a member of arguably the most dominant St. Joe's team of all-time.  Alongside fellow guard Jameer Neslon, Delonte West and St. Joe's went an amazing 30-2 during the 2003-04 college basketball season.

This is obviously huge praise from Phil Martelli. That said, how come few people know of Brown if he's that big of a deal? The coach has answers:

“His team only won 11 games,” Martelli said. “No one truly has a great year when your team wins 11 games. Charlie had to do almost everything last year because of the injuries we had last year and if everyone is healthy, he’ll have to do less next year. It’s a unique dynamic.”

There's no reason to get excited if you're a St. Joe's fan.
