The USC basketball team brought in one of the top recruiting classes in the country last season, and the team had very high expectations for the year. The Trojans were expected to do big things, but the season ended up being a big disappointment. USC failed to make the NCAA Tournament, and they parted ways with head coach Andy Enfield after the season as he is now at SMU. However, the Trojans recently found their replacement as they have hired Eric Musselman from Arkansas.

Eric Musselman hasn't been with the USC basketball team for long, but he already made a big move in the transfer portal. When he was still coaching the Arkansas basketball team, Musselman landed a commitment from UMass transfer Josh Cohen. Now, Cohen has flipped his commitment, and he is coming to play for the Trojans.

“UMass transfer forward Josh Cohen has flipped his commitment from Arkansas to USC,” An article from On3 wrote.

That's a good way to kick off the new job. Musselman worked hard getting a commitment from Cohen when he was at Arkansas, and this move from Josh Cohen just goes to show how big of an impact Musselman had on his transfer decision. This move wasn't all about going to play at Arkansas, but it was really about playing for Musselman.

Cohen has had some big seasons as a college basketball player, and his best came before he transferred to UMass as he played for four years at SFPA before then. He averaged over 21 PPG the season before going to the Minutemen. At UMass, Cohen averaged 15.9 PPG, 6.8 RPG and 1.7 APG. He's going to be an interesting played to watch for USC next season.

The move to USC basketball is a big one for Musselman. He found a lot of success at Arkansas in previous years, but it's time for the next step in his career. He is excited about the move.

“My family and I couldn't be more excited for this incredible opportunity at USC,” Musselman said in a statement, according to an article from ESPN. “We will be committed to the development of our student-athletes and upholding the values that make the Trojan Family so special. We will hit the ground running and work tirelessly to make our great alumni, fans and all of Los Angeles proud.”

This was a big hire for the Trojans after no longer having Andy Enfield as their head coach. Enfield did a good job at USC for the most part, but after this past season, there is potential for things to go downhill. The Trojans made a good hire, however.

“Eric displays heart, boldness, resiliency and everything that it means to be a Trojan,” USC AD Jennifer Cohen said. “He inspires togetherness and will help build and grow the program's connectivity within the Trojan community. As we move to the Big Ten and enter a new chapter for USC Men's Basketball, there is no better fit than Eric Musselman to launch our program to new heights.”

Next year will be an exciting season of USC basketball with Eric Musselman running the show.
