The Minnesota Vikings have been anxious to get wide receiver Adam Thielen back on the field, but it appears he'll need at least another week to recover. According to Ian Rapoport, Thielen is officially out versus the Detroit Lions in Week 14.

Earlier in the week, the Vikings were optimistic that Thielen would be able to give it a go on Sunday. But as the week continued to roll along, it was apparent that the veteran pass-catcher was going to need more time to heal his injury.

Thielen injured his hamstring back in Week 7 when the Vikings faced the Lions for the first time this season. After sitting out for a week, Thielen returned to the offense in Week 9.

Unfortunately, Thielen re-aggravated his hamstring injury in his return and he will miss his fourth straight game on Sunday. At the least, Minnesota is hopeful that he will be ready to rejoin the offense in Week 15 against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Before sustaining the injury, Thielen was headed towards having another productive season with the Vikings. The sure-handed wide receiver had 27 receptions for 391 yards and six touchdowns in eight starts.

With Minnesota jostling for a playoff spot, Thielen's return will be definitely be welcomed. Especially with the team having two divisional games to end the season against the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers.

Despite not having Thielen in Week 14, the Vikings should be able to handle the Lions. The Lions are 3-8-1 and are starting their third-string quarterback, David Blough, for the second straight week.
