The Minnesota Vikings welcomed back two of their most notable players in wide receiver Stefon Diggs and cornerback Xavier Rhodes to practice after they were forced to miss Wednesday's session at the request of head coach Mike Zimmer. It appears all is well between the teammates moving forward.

Zimmer had reportedly booted them from practice following a “heated exchange” between the two. According to John Shipley of the Pioneer Press, Diggs and Rhodes say there are no hard feelings:

Diggs called it a “family thing” that’s now in the past and Rhodes used a similar analogy to explain what happened between the players.

“It was just the competitive nature in us,” Rhodes said. “I didn’t want to lose. He didn’t want to lose. … It’s stuff like that if you have a sibling you grow up with and he does something you don’t like and then something tends to go off.”

It is not uncommon for players to go at each other in training camp. In fact, it is an inevitability given all the competitive juices flowing in the heat of the moment. However, it is essential to make sure that such hostility does transcend into lingering aggression. This is likely why Zimmer decided to give them the day off.

Fortunately, it seems all is well in Minnesota. The players will finally have the chance to release some of their angst on another team when they square of against the Denver Broncos on Saturday. Although Diggs and Rhodes likely will not get too much work in, it will allow them and the other players to let off some steam.
