The Golden State Warriors were expected to complete some trade deadline moves. In past years, the Warriors have taken advantage of waived players and teams in need to dump their little-used talent. Not this year. The Warriors have actually made no transactions at all since the start of the regular season.

Even the best teams in the NBA have some weaknesses that can be addressed by making a move or two, but the Warriors decided to stand pat. General manager Bob Myers commented on their quiet trade deadline this season, via Anthony Slater from The Athletic.

“We were never the lead horse in a race in some of the things we looked at.”

Myers made an allusion to trade talks and possible deals that never came to be. Some did, but for other teams. As for the trade market, the Warriors did not have much to offer. They were hesitant on moving any rotation player to avoid disrupting their chemistry.

Still, their 2018 first-round pick held more value than most people think. Of course, it may end up being the last pick in the first round; but with teams unwilling to give up first-rounders, even in exchange for solid players, the Warriors could have acquired a valuable player with theirs. But as recent history has shown, the Warriors built a championship team through the draft and they value young talent.

This does not mean the Warriors' roster will look the same in April. There are still some veterans in buyout talks with their front offices and this is where the Warriors have a chance to find a good deal. As Slater pointed out, Marco Bellineli is a candidate to sign with the Warriors after finalizing his buyout agreement with the Atlanta Hawks.

The Warriors were quiet at the deadline, but that does not mean they are done making moves.
