The New York Knicks will reportedly have a “very good shot” to sign Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant during the upcoming offseason, said Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports as a guest on Fox Sports 1's “Undisputed.”

“New York Knicks have a very good shot at luring KD away from the Bay Area,” said Haynes, noting Durant's connection to his business partner, Rich Kleiman, a native New Yorker who has expressed his willingness to take over the Knicks' front office. “…The same allure that LeBron had towards the Los Angeles Lakers, just the building, the culture, is the same way I know that KD feels about the Knicks.”

Haynes also alluded to Durant's father being a huge Knicks fan — but that is likely a secondary reason why Durant would join the Knicks, who now seem a lot more stable under the management of new president Steve Mills and general manager Scott Perry, who have acted diligently during their one-year reign in The Big Apple.

While Haynes offered the Knicks do have a good shot to land the reigning two-time Finals MVP, he quickly noted “Golden State still has the edge, with what they have built” and is still a frontrunner to retain him, but argued that fans will always consider Stephen Curry as the face of the franchise, given he's been there since the start of it all.

“If he were to bolt, this wouldn't be a situation like LeBron leaving Cleveland. He went on there, had a good ride, then went on to greener pastures,” said Haynes. “I will say Golden State has the edge, but the Knicks could be in play.”

Durant has the shot at a threepeat with the Warriors this year, but it is unknown if the prospect of getting more championship rings interests him, given the financial state of the franchise, which will have to make bold decisions in the next two years, deciding how to keep Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, or force dismantling their core for a different opportunity.
