Washington Wizards restricted free agent Bobby Portis is reportedly seeking as much as $16 million per season this summer once free agency starts, according to Tony Jones and Fred Katz of The Athletic.

As a restricted free agent, Portis can sign an offer sheet with another team and then the Wizards would have 48 hours to match the deal or let Portis walk. Jones and Katz are reporting the Wizards are unlikely to match a lucrative offer sheet for Portis.

The Wizards acquired Portis from the Chicago Bulls in February in the Otto Porter Jr. trade. The power forward averaged 14.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 50 games with the Bulls and Wizards while shooting 44.4 percent from the field, 39.3 percent from beyond the arc and 79.4 percent from the free-throw line.

Jones reported last week Portis has interest in signing with the Utah Jazz. Portis is a good rebounder and a player who plays with a lot of passion and grit. He can also knock down the mid range jumper and has improved his 3-point shooting as well.

The Wizards had to know Portis was going to be looking to get paid this offseason once he didn't agree to an extension with the Bulls. We'll see how things play out this summer.
