The Houston Rockets have multiple chances to beef up their young roster in the 2022 NBA Draft. Aside from the third overall pick, they also have the No. 17 selection as a result of the trade that sent James Harden to the Brooklyn Nets.

Most of the marquee names are expected to be off the board by the time the Rockets get to pick midway through the first round. However, there are still many intriguing talents who could bolster Houston's rebuilding efforts going forward.

With that said, let's take a look at the three best options for the Rockets with the 17th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.

3 best options for Rockets with No. 17 pick

3. Ousmane Dieng

Dieng is flying under the radar a bit after spending this past season with the New Zealand Breakers of Australia's National Basketball League, where LaMelo Ball cut his teeth before entering the 2020 draft. His untapped potential and sheer size on the wing would make him an interesting piece for a Rockets team that already has the pillars of a young core in place.

Dieng averaging 8.9 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 23 appearance with the Breakers. Those numbers may not be eye-popping, but it is worth noting that the 19-year-old was competing against grown men on a nightly basis in one of the toughest professional basketball leagues in the world.

Standing 6-foot-9, Dieng could help fill a gaping hole on the wing in Houston with his two-way versatility and all-around instincts. He still needs to hone his jumper and work to improve his athleticism, but Dieng has the long-term potential to emerge as a crucial cog for the Rockets when they're ready to compete for a playoff spot.

2. Walker Kessler

In a bid to boost their frontcourt unit, the Rockets could go with big man Kessler, arguably the best defensive player in college basketball last season. The Auburn center averaged 11.4 and 8.1 rebounds as a sophomore, making his biggest impact in the paint, where he notched an incredible 4.6 blocks per game.

A transfer from North Carolina, Kessler was one of the most decorated players in the country during his lone season with the Tigers, winning Naismith Defensive Player of the Year and SEC Defensive Player of the Year while garnering Third Team All-American honors.. Kessler's offensive game still has ways to go, but there's a good chance he could make an immediate impact for the Rockets on the defensive end.

1. Tari Eason

Another transfer who made a name for himself in 2021-22, Eason averaged 16.9 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.9 steals and 1.1 blocks per game for LSU.  He was a bit player for Cincinnati the previous season, appearing in just 23 games as a freshman, including eight as a starter.

Eason opened even fewer games for the Tigers, cementing himself as the best most impactful bench player in all of college basketball. The athletic, versatile forward was named First Team All-SEC last season, running away with the conference's Sixth Man of the Year award.

At 6-foot-8 with a 7-foot-2 wingspan, Eason has the length, quickness and anticipation to develop into an impact defender at forward, just what the Rockets need next to Jalen Green and Kevin Porter Jr.
