The San Francisco 49ers look to stay afloat after starting the 2023-24 NFL season hot. San Francisco is 8-3 after beating the Seattle Seahawks during Week 12. The 49ers made a decisive roster move to bring former Raiders and recent Falcons safety Erik Harris as the team bolsters the roster for a late-season run.

Erik Harris provides veteran presence to the 49ers

Harris is expected to sign with the 49ers' practice squad, per Ian Rappaport. The move enhances San Francisco's veteran presence and defensive depth.

Two of SF's safeties are on the injury reserve list. Talanoa Hufanga was put on the IR on November 21st with a knee injury. Meanwhile, George Oden joined the list with a bicep issue. Erik Harris will provide much-needed support to the 49ers' secondary amid the team's injury woes.

Harris is a 33-year-old NFL veteran who spent the majority of his career with the Raiders. Harris joined the Atlanta Falcons in 2021 and played for two seasons before becoming a free agent. The PennWest California product had seven solo tackles during the 2022-23 NFL season.

The 49ers have been great during the first part of the 22-23 season, but things will only get more challenging for the NFC West leaders. SF will face one of the best teams in the NFL on December 3rd, the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Eagles have only lost one game so far and will want to assert themselves against a major conference threat. However, the 49ers will not go down easily. Christian McCaffrey and co. look to continue their momentum into Week 13.
