The Chicago Bears will be without two of their main stars in linebacker Khalil Mack and wide receiver Allen Robinson against the New York Jets on Sunday, the team announced.

Mack, who played 64 out of a possible 64 games in four years with the Oakland Raiders will now miss the first game of his five-year career.

Mack was listed as questionable because of the ankle sprain he suffered in the Bears’ loss to the Miami Dolphins two weeks ago. While he was able to play last week against the New England Patriots, he did not seem close to 100 percent.

As a result, the Bears’ pass rush was clearly not as effective. Mack has been exceptional to start his Bears career, racking up 5.0 sacks with four forced fumbles and an interception over his first six games. His absence will once again be a big miss for the Bears defense against New York.

Meanwhile, Robinson had also had been listed as questionable for the game while he recovers from a groin injury. He missed practice Wednesday and Thursday and was limited Friday. Robinson, who is making his return from a torn ACL last season, has 25 catches for 285 yards and two touchdowns thus far this season.

Like Mack, Robinson also played last week against the Patriots despite his injury and didn’t look close to his best as he had only one catch for four yards on five targets.

With Robinson out, the Bears will now have to lean on Taylor Gabriel, Kevin White and rookie Anthony Miller out wide, with tight end Trey Burton and running back Tarik Cohen also likely to see a good number of targets.
