The Chicago Bears have been one of the more surprising teams in the 2018 NFL season. It seems they have made a believer out of Hall of Famer Steve Young.

The Bears have made some big moves this offseason and it has certainly paid off thus far. Young said during an appearance on ESPN that he believes Chicago has a chance to compete for a Super Bowl in the near future:

“Like the Rams, they're all in with the rookie contract Mitchell Trubisky has right now. They got to do it in the next couple of years. Maybe not this year, but they got to be coming this year.”

Steve Young is standing by his comments, which may seem a bit far-fetched. However, they certainly carry plenty of weight considering his status as a three-time Super Bowl winner. It appears he feels they finally have enough to seriously compete with a championship.

Quarterback Mitchell Trubisky has finally started to show some flashes of being a potential franchise player. This has allowed the front office to capitalize on his rookie deal by filling the voids elsewhere. They certainly did their part to construct a talented roster on both sides of the ball during the offseason. However, the turning point came when they acquired defensive end Khalil Mack from the Oakland Raiders and made him the highest-paid defensive player in the NFL. He has undoubtedly given Chicago plenty of bang for their buck when healthy and they glad to have him back after he missed the last two games with a sprained ankle.

The timing could not be any better as they prepare for three straight division games. The Bears currently lead the NFC North. This upcoming stretch could be a determining factor in whether or not they maintain their spot at the top.
