It looks like the Chicago Bears plan to move on from Mitchell Trubisky, according to a report by Dan Graziano and Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. While it is unclear what the Bears' long-term plan is at the position, the team is believed to be monitoring the situation in Seattle surrounding Russell Wilson. Additionally, Chicago has combed the free-agent market for a possible solution. Given the lack of top-tier talent in the market, such a move would only be a temporary fix.

As for Trubisky, Graziano and Fowler listed Denver as a potential landing spot for the former first-round draft pick. Given Drew Lock's tenuous hold on the starting gig, Trubisky could vie for a starting role there. Trubisky will likely have at least one more opportunity to make an NFL team.

Bears Missed With Trubisky Pick

Entering the draft, Trubisky was known for his incredible deep-ball accuracy and athleticism. This led to the Bears selecting him second overall out of North Carolina. Their belief was that they had finally secured the type of playmaking quarterback that had long eluded them. It's also been well documented that Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes were selected after him. However, like the countless QB's before him that failed to live up to expectations in Chicago. Trubisky routinely struggled to read and anticipate defenses, throwing 37 interceptions in 51 career games.

After a season in which the coaching staff pulled him in and out of the lineup, the writing appeared to be on the wall. Though a lack of recent developments surrounding the play-caller had caused some to wonder if that was still true, Sunday's reporting is the final nail in the coffin for Trubisky's tenure with the Bears.

For both parties, the official divorce can't come quickly enough.
