Early on Wednesday morning, the Boston Celtics officially announced that they have exercised the options of several players, including Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Guerschon Yabusele. In doing so, all three players will remain under contract with the team through at least the end of next season.

All three of these players have become important role players for the Celtics, so the fact that the team decided to pick up their options should come as no surprise.

Brown, now 22 years of age, has made seven appearances with the Celtics this season, averaging 10.9 points on 36.0 percent shooting from the field (32.1 percent from beyond the arc), 4.1 rebounds, and 1.9 assists in 29.1 minutes per outing. In his most recent performance — a 108-105 win against the Detroit Pistons — the Georgia native posted 14 points, five rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal.

Tatum, 20, is quickly making a name for himself in the NBA. Through his first seven games played this season, the former No. 3 overall pick has racked up averages of 16.6 points on 40.4 percent shooting (28.6 percent from downtown), 8.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 32.6 minutes.

Tatum and Brown combined for 30 points against the Pistons on Tuesday night. Celtics star Kyrie Irving led the charge with a season-high 31 points.

The Celtics were impressed with Yabusele's improved level of play in the preseason, which is likely the reason they wanted to keep him on-board. Boston selected the 22-year-old French native with the 16th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft.

The Celtics will be back in action on Thursday night, when they'll welcome the Milwaukee Bucks to TD Garden. Tip-off is set for 8:00 p.m. with TNT having live broadcast coverage.
