Nintendo, you bastards. You almost had us. First, you tease us with a Legend of Zelda announcement at the start of your presentation, showing us Ganon's face being carried by someone. It turns out to be the announcement for TEKKEN‘s Kazuya Mishima joining Smash. Meanwhile, they'd go on for the rest of the Nintendo Direct, as if they weren't aware of the bait-and-switch they just did. Finally, they said that they're making their final announcement for the day, and had the gall to showcase Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity DLC. They went on to announce other things, such as gameplay improvements for Skyward Sword (releasing July 16, 2021). They even announced a Game & Watch System for The Legend of Zelda, celebrating its 35th anniversary this year, coming out on November 12, 2021.

But then, they dropped the bomb on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 at the very end of their presentation. They showed off a good mix of gameplay and cinematics, and it's looking really, really, good. From what we can tell, Link is ditching his Sheikah Slate, getting the powers infused into his right arm. We also get some skydiving scenes, showing off the vastness of the game's map, which seems to have multiplied in verticality. We also get new enemy types, new Sheikah Slate powers, a new villain, and even a new look for Link. What a way to end E3.
