Junior dos Santos is the latest former UFC fighter to have signed for the hybrid MMA and Boxing promotion in Triller. The unorthodox promotion likes to put on MMA vs boxing fighter matches in the different sports. Brendan Schaub is the latest person to react to dos Santos taking on Kubrat Pulev.
Kubrat Pulev last beat Frank Mir in an absolutely lopsided knockout victory, many felt the MMA fighter should have never been in there against the former boxing champion.
Brendan Schaub reacted to the booking and he did not hold back. He felt like Junior dos Santos should have never been booked to take on Kubrat Pulev.
“It’s a terrible idea for Junior. I don’t get it. Pulev is an absolute fucking savage, dude… I don’t know why you would want to get in there if you were dos Santos. I guess, I don’t know where he’s at financially, maybe that makes sense… look what Pulev did to fucking Frank Mir, dude… I don’t get it.” – Brendan Schaub said (h/t Sportskeeda).
The issue isn't with Junior dos Santos signing with Triller. The problem is with him being booked against Kubrat Pulev. Brendan Schaub points to the fact that Pulev fought Anthony Joshua not that long ago.
“Look, I am 100% behind Junior dos Santos signing with someone if you want to continue his fighting career. The fact that they are going to put him against Pulev, people are not freaking considering who Pulev is. This is a guy who, a couple of fights ago, fought the heavyweight champion of the world in Anthony Joshua… It’s crazy.”
Brendan Schaub brought up some great points and Twitter reacted the same way to the booking. Junior dos Santos is a much better boxer than Frank Mir but his durability has been in question.
