Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo just celebrated his 26th birthday, and to his surprise, his teammates decided to gift him with an unexpected set of gifts. The reigning back-to-back MVP's Bucks teammates decided to give Giannis one pen each — something that the Greek Freak found a bit baffling at first.

As it turns out, it was a symbolic gesture from every single player on the Bucks roster, urging Giannis to literally put pen to paper on his pending extension deal. Antetokounmpo himself spoke about it:

“At first, I didn't get it. Khris [Middleton] came in and gave me a pen, and I was like, ‘Whoa, what is this?' I was looking at it and thinking about it, and then I realized that he wanted me to sign the contract,” said Antetokounmpo, via Eric Woodyard of ESPN. “And it was just like, ‘OK.' I laughed the first time, I laughed the second time, the third time, and then I got, like, 20 pens. So then it got a little bit old. I've got 20 pens in my locker room.”

It was a hilarious, but meaningful set of gifts from his teammates, though it remains unclear at this point if Antetokounmpo will indeed sign on the dotted line.

Giannis is entering the final year of his current deal, and if he opts to sign the extension, then he will become an unrestricted free agent next summer. That's the last thing the Bucks want, and clearly, they are doing everything in their power to convince their cornerstone superstar to remain on board.

Giannis Antetokounmpo has already indicated in the past that he wants to stay in Milwaukee, but until it's official, anything can still happen. Whatever the case may be, he has at least 20 pens to choose from should he finally decided to sign what is expected to be a record-breaking supermax extension.
