Scottie Pippen pretty much put the NBA world into a frenzy after his scandalous GQ interview was published. One of the more contentious bits from the unfiltered interview was Pippen's revelation about his relationship with former Chicago Bulls teammate Michael Jordan. As it turns out, there's much more to this than what we saw on the surface.

Apparently, despite how much chemistry they had on the basketball court, Pip and MJ were never really friends outside of it:

“Michael was bigger than the game, you know,” Pippen said, via Nico Martinez of Fadeaway World. “Even my initial arrival to Chicago he was a big, iconic figure for the NBA (Pippen was drafted three years after Jordan). So, we never really had that off the court relationship.”

It's not as if Pippen and Jordan had animosity between them outside the confines of the court, but as it turns out, they did not get along too well either. Perhaps they had different priorities beyond basketball or maybe they just weren't on the same wavelength.

What Scottie Pippen did attest to, however, is how their partnership was so effective on the basketball court:

“Our relationship between the lines was impeccable,” Pippen added. “We pushed each other to be great. We trained with each other to be the best. So, everything we did, from a basketball standpoint, it was a high level of respect there that we knew we could be the best. We could be dominant. We had went through pretty much the Vietnam War to get where we got to. We were battle tested.”

Now this is something we can all agree on. The Jordan-Pippen duo is arguably the greatest partnership in the history of the sport. They achieved so much together, and this is a clear testament of how they saw eye to eye — on the court at least.
