The playoffs are just around the corner, and while the top teams in the league would surely like to win some games over the course of the remainder of the regular season, health is the main priority. No one knows that better than Boston Celtics big man Al Horford, who will likely see some intermittent rest from here on out up until the postseason begins.

While it's painful for another professional athlete to sit out games, Horford understands that doing so will help preserve his knees for when it really counts:

Horford has dealt with nagging knee issues throughout most of the season and missed some time earlier in the year as a result. Lately, his knees have been acting up again, and with the playoffs drawing closer and closer, it would probably be a good idea for the Celtics to get him some rest.

The 32-year-old is known for stepping his game up in the postseason, and a lot of that has to do with the fact that he does take his foot off the gas a bit during the regular season.

Overall during the 2018-19 campaign, Horford is averaging 13.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.3 blocks over 28.8 minutes per game while shooting 52.8 percent from the floor, 35.4 percent from 3-point range and 80.3 percent from the free-throw line.

The Dominican is in his third year with the Celtics after signing with the team during the summer of 2016.

Prior to joining Boston, Horford had spent the first nine years of his NBA career with the Atlanta Hawks.
