The Milwaukee Bucks were extremely active on Monday, as they pulled the trigger on two big trades that are expected to have a significant impact on the coming season. One of which was their coup on Jrue Holiday from the New Orleans Pelicans — something that Boston Celtics fans are feeling strongly about.
Prior to finalizing a move to Milwaukee, Holiday was also linked to several other teams. This included the Celtics, and as it turns out, more than a few C's supporters were very much looking forward to bringing the former All-Star point guard to Boston. Nevertheless, Celtics fans were united in their belief that the Bucks absolutely overpaid for Holiday (h/t Adam London of NESN):
I wanted Jrue on the Celtics, but not for the amount the bucks just gave up for him. Fair enough

Im really happy the Celtics didn’t get Jrue. He doesn’t match Tatum and Brown timeline and cost too much to trade for he isn’t that good just solid

I wanted Jrue Holiday but the #Celtics weren’t matching what Milwaukee offered New Orleans. It makes sense for Milwaukee’s situation but not for Boston.

I wanted the Celtics to trade for Jrue, but not at THAT price. Holy overpay, Batman!

Generally, Celtics supporters acknowledged how it would have been great to see Holiday in Boston's colors. However, most of them agree that the Pelicans were asking for too much for the 30-year-old guard. The fact that the Bucks were willing to meet New Orleans' demands did not seem to sit too well with the Celtics faithful, though.
For the record, Milwaukee sent Eric Bledsoe, George Hill, as well as a couple of draft picks to the Pelicans in exchange for Holiday. There's no denying that it was quite a haul for New Orleans, but in exchange, the Bucks get one of the best defensive guards in the entire NBA in Holiday.
Whether or not it was a fair deal remains to be seen. On paper, though, it does seem that the Pelicans get the slight advantage. If you ask Boston fans, however, you know what they're going to say.
