The Boston Celtics boast one of the deepest rosters in the league as of today. Head coach Brad Stevens plans to keep it that way as he hopes the team secures backup point guard Terry Rozier in a long-term deal.

Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe tweeted out Stevens' statement on his desire to keep Rozier at all costs.

“I think it’s very clear how all of us players, coaches and front office, people in Boston, everybody you run into, how they feel about Terry. And it’d be great if we could have him here for a long, long, time.”

With Kyrie Irving reiterating his decision to re-sign with the Celtics next year, a Rozier extension could be a bit tricky. They already signed combo guard Marcus Smart to an extension this summer, while Hayward and Horford are locked in for a couple of years more.

The Celtics front office will certainly save much money to sign young star forward Jayson Tatum in the future, arguably forcing them to make a decision as to who between Rozier and Jaylen Brown should they sign into an extension.

Rozier's revelation from a mere backup to making his case as a quality starting point guard for any team will make him think twice on signing with the Celtics. It's not that Boston doesn't have a fit for him, but the 24-year-old budding star should have more lucrative offers from other teams next year

In what could be a year that will dictate his future in the NBA, look for Rozier to take his game to even greater heights.
