Los Angeles Clippers head coach and former Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers thinks Boston has a chance to win the East next season.

With superstar small forward Kawhi Leonard leaving the Toronto Raptors for the Clippers this summer in free agency, the Eastern Conference is wide-open next season and Rivers believes the Celtics could win the conference if everything falls into place.

The Celtics lost All-Stars Kyrie Irving and Al Horford in free agency this summer. Boston replaced Irving with three-time All-Star point guard Kemba Walker and Horford with big man Enes Kanter.

Forwards Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum's usage rates will rise now that Irving and Horford are gone. The Celtics are cautiously optimistic swingman Gordon Hayward will return to his All-Star form after struggling last season in his return from that gruesome ankle injury he suffered on opening night in 2017-18.

Boston will go as far as Walker, Brown and Tatum can take them. Most pundits have the Milwaukee Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers as the two best teams in the East.

The Celtics will try and redeem themselves after their underwhelming 2018-19 season.

There should be a more positive vibe around the team with the new blood in the locker room.
