Jaylen Brown was so into the game against the Memphis Grizzlies that he had no idea that he was about to surpass his career-high in points. However, thanks to Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens, he was able to set a new personal record.

After their dominant 126-107 victory on Wednesday, Brown admitted that he had no clue he was about to break his career-high in points. His teammates let him know and Stevens was kind enough to allow him to chase for the milestone.

“At first, I had no idea, I was just playing,” Jaylen Brown said before pointing out that his Celtics teammates let him know of his status, per John Karalis of The Sport Daily. “They were telling me ‘Dang, you are right at your career-high with 34 points.’ I gave Brad a little wink and said, ‘Can I get two more minutes?’ He let me go back out there.”

In the end, Brown dropped 42 points for his new career-high. What's impressive is that the 24-year-old swingman did it in just 29 minutes. He was 15-of-21 from the field, 7-of-10 from deep, and 5-of-6 from the free-throw line.

Brown's 42-point explosion brings his average to 28.0 points per game through the first five games of the season. From the looks of it, he is experiencing another upward trajectory in his young NBA career. Many believe that he was snubbed in last season's All-Star ballot, as well as in the All-NBA Teams. This time, as early as now, Brown is already making his case to make sure he doesn't get spurned yet again.
