You can take the kid out of St. Louis, but you can't take St. Louis out of the kid. Jayson Tatum has never shied away from being prideful of his home city. Everytime he puts on a Boston Celtics jersey, the city of St. Louis is on his back too.

Tatum was asked about Celtics legend Paul Pierce's attendance for Boston's NBA Finals Game 3 win, but his response was the most St. Louis thing ever. As it turns out, the young star was focused on another guest in the stands that night: hometown artist, Nelly.

“Paul Pierce?” Tatum questioned. “We had Nelly. St. Louis was in the house.”

Pierce seems to always be wrapped up in a hysterical situation, so catching a stray bullet from a new star on his former team is no surprise. He's living proof that no matter what you accomplish in this league, you can still be the butt of a joke.

Tatum, on the other hand, may want to invite Nelly back for Game 4. He dropped 26 points, 9 assists and 6 rebounds in front of the R&B sensation. Tatum's performance helped Boston defeat the Golden State Warriors 116-100 and take a 2-1 series lead.

The Celtics play at home once more before the series moves back to the bay area for at least Game 5. Boston needs to take advantage of its rambunctious home crowd, and perhaps gift Nelly some more tickets to root for the C's and Tatum.

Game 4 of the NBA Finals is set for tomorrow at 9 p.m.
