Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics, one of the top rookies last season, is working out with none other than Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant.
Yes, you read that right — the past and the future of rival franchises, together. Below are some photos of Bryant and Tatum, as posted on the latter’s Instagram account:
The caption, “How much does it mean to you,” sounds like it came from Bryant? At this point, he is basketball’s wise man. Maybe Bryant asked Tatum how basketball, winning, and being heralded as one of the best, mean to him.
The photo was met with a ton of comments from Tatum’s followers. Being that Tatum is a Celtic, some couldn’t accept the fact the one of the greatest to don the purple and gold is training with him. One hoped that Bryant won’t teach all his tricks to him.
Yet to those who are surprised with Bryant’s decision to train with Tatum, just recall his new show Detail. In one of the episodes, his subject was the 20-year-old. The Black Mamba inserted praises during his commentary. Tatum, in return, confessed that he saw the episode at least 25 times.
“That was really cool for me. Growing up, [Bryant] was my favorite player. That was really a special moment for me,” Tatum said then, as per Chris Forsberg’s ESPN.
“I’ve probably watched [the video] like 25 times already. It’s very helpful information that I can take with me. It was something that he noticed — and I mean, it made a lot of sense when he pointed it out.”
