Boston Celtics point guard Kemba Walker is fully aware he's going to get Kyrie Irving questions all season long in 2019-20.

Walker is replacing Irving as the Celtics' starting point guard. The New York native says Irving is a great player, but it just didn't work out in 2018-19 for Kyrie and Boston.

Walker is hoping things will be different for the Celtics now that he's in the fold:

“Now that I'm coming in and taking Ky's place, I know I'm going to be asked questions about him and things like that,” Walker told ESPN's Jackie MacMullan. “But, you know, it just didn't work out. It happens. It happens so much in this league. We know how great of a player Kyrie is, but like I said, it just didn't work out. Hopefully I can come in and it works out. That's my plan.”

Kemba Walker signed with the Celtics because he wants to compete at the highest level, something he wasn't able to do with the Charlotte Hornets. The three-time All-Star averaged 25.6 points and 5.9 assists in 2018-19 while shooting 43.4 percent from the field, 35.6 percent from beyond the arc and 84.4 percent from the free-throw line.

It's not going to take long for Walker to become popular in Boston given the way Kyrie Irving left town. Celtics fans are hoping Walker can lead the team on a deep playoff run in 2019-20.
