There’s a growing sense of uncertainty that superstar point guard Kyrie Irving will re-sign with the Boston Celtics in the summer, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

There’s a growing belief of uncertainty that Kyrie Irving will not re-sign with Boston, sources said, even though he vowed to do so at the beginning of the season.

Irving can become an unrestricted free agent after the season ends if he declines his 2019-20 player option with the Celtics. Before this season started, Irving told fans at the TD Garden he was planning on re-signing with Boston.

The Celtics are 30-19 on the season, but it hasn't been smooth sailing. Irving called out his younger teammates after a loss to the Orlando Magic, telling reporters they don't know what it takes to win a championship. While Uncle Drew said he should have kept those comments in house, it's clear that there are still some chemistry issues in Boston.

In 43 games this season for the Celtics, Kyrie Irving is averaging 23.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 6.9 assists per game. The 26-year-old is shooting 49.9 percent from the field, 41.2 percent from beyond the arc and 85.0 percent from the free-throw line.

If Irving doesn't re-sign with Boston, expect the All-Star guard to consider joining the New York Knicks or Brooklyn Nets. Both teams will have cap space to sign Irving in the summer, and Kyrie grew up in New Jersey.
