The Boston Celtics were battered and bruised throughout the battle that was the Eastern Conference Finals. Both of their top defenders in Marcus Smart and Robert Williams played through injuries in their grueling seven-game series against the Miami Heat.

The extended rest before the NBA Finals begins is exactly what those two needed. Celtics head coach Ime Udoka spoke positively about both Smart and Williams, indicating that they're good to go to start the series.

Marcus Smart in particular reportedly has “no concern” regarding the injuries that bothered him and forced him to miss two games against the Heat, according to The Athletic's Jared Weiss.

No concern about Smart per Udoka on his ankle/everything else.

While Robert Williams is said to be “all right”, per Udoka, that doesn't mean he's completely healthy. The Celtics center is expected to continue to deal with lingering issues that will leave him day-to-day throughout the series. This according to The Athletic's Jay King.

Ime Udoka said Robert Williams is “all right” and “felt good” after playing just 15 minutes in Game 7. Udoka believes Williams should “feel better in general” with a few days off before starting the Finals, but he will still be playing through issues during the series.

The Boston Celtics need their players healthy and engaged if they hope to topple the Golden State Warriors. Having their two best defenders with a relatively clean bill of health to start the series is all fans could ask for.
