REPORT: Boston Celtics could be the ‘mystery team’ in on Al Horford
Boston Celtics free agent Al Horford is set to hit the open NBA free agency market this evening and there are quite a few teams that have expressed interest in signing him. There have also been quite a few reports about a “mystery team” that would like to sign Horford. That mystery team hasn’t been revealed, but there is a new report that may know who it is.
According to a report from Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer, the Celtics may very well be the mystery team.
There are some league executives that believe the "mystery team" for Al Horford is…the Boston Celtics.

It would make a lot of sense for the two sides to strongly consider trying to reunite this offseason. Boston may be losing superstar point guard Kyrie Irving, but they are also gaining superstar point guard Kemba Walker. They can still make a deep playoff run if they bring everyone else back outside of Irving.
Horford has been a major piece for the Celtics over the last few years. He has helped take them back into championship contention.
During the 2018-19 season with Boston, Horford ended up averaging 13.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game. He shot 53.5 percent from the field overall and knocked down 36.0 percent of his three-point attempts.
Those numbers show why so many teams are interested in him. Add in the fact that he is an above average defender and it makes even more sense. Boston can’t afford to lose him and could try to get creative to bring him back on the contract that he wants.
All of that being said, Horford is a name to keep an eye on over the next few days. He may end up leaving the Celtics, but they aren’t giving up on the dream of bringing him back just yet.
