Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart, by no means, is an offensively talented backcourt piece. However, he makes up for it with his great athleticism and defense. Usually, point guards in this era of basketball are supposed to have a great shooting touch and the ability to score in a variety of ways.

As a matter of fact, Stephen Curry, Kyrie Irving, and Damian Lillard are some of the most offensively talented point guards in the NBA and rank among the best in the league in their position. Smart, on the other hand, is exceptional at getting charges and making insane plays to help his team.

On Thursday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Smart saved a Celtics possession by rising up out of nowhere for a put-back slam. The play immediately went viral on social media and will likely be the highlight of Wednesday night.

It's clear that Smart can't shoot. It's also apparent that Smart isn't a good scorer at all. Though, what the former Oklahoma State Cowboy does bring to the table is a wide array of intangibles that you just witnessed above.

Ranked second in the Eastern Conference, the Celtics have thrived using their depth. The Celtics do have Irving, who happens to be one of the deadliest scorers in the league, but the Celtics have become a championship contender using their unique squad of rookies and young players.

If Marcus Smart keeps on making phenomenal plays like this, he could help the Celtics when they need it most, in the postseason. Last year the Celtics were defeated by the Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals. Hopefully, Smart can help the Celtics win the Eastern Conference this year.
