After taking a loss to the Young Bucks, Nicholas and Matthew Jackson, in a tag team match with Matt Sydal on AEW Dynamite, Christopher Daniels had his insult turned to “financial” injury when his oldest friends, a pair of performers he'd known since their Ring of Honor days, decided to use their EVP powers to fire him from the company he'd been with since the beginning.

Now for Daniels, this was as disheartening as it was embarrassing, as Matthew had security escort him out of the ring and back to the locker room to gather his things and leave the promotion seemingly forever, but before he would exit the AEW offices once and for all, the “Fallen Angel” decided to cut one final promo for the company's digital arm, letting the fans, and most importantly the Young Bucks know that they can't break his spirit.

“My whole life, I was proud to be a professional wrestler. I love wrestling, but I also knew it was a grind. I was always trying to get that stability, that foundation for my life. Not for me. For my wife, for my daughter, for my son. All the years, all the companies that I was part of, TNA, Ring of Honor, it was always just out of reach, that stability, that foundation, that sure feeling that I was taken care of,” Christopher Daniels explained via Fightful.

“Finally, when it was near the end of my career, along comes AEW. Yeah, I was super fortunate that Matt and Nick Jackson asked me to come along for the ride, to be here from the very first day. Finally, I could look at my wife, I could look at my daughter and my son, and tell them that everything was gonna be okay. I know these jobs can be taken from you like that, but I never thought it would be Matt and Nick that took the job away from me. So Matt, Nick, I hope you’re f**king happy, you son of a b**ch.”

After taking out Tony Khan, Kenny Omega, and now Eddie Kingston ahead of Double or Nothing, the Young Bucks have to consistently come up with ways to up the stakes with each passing week, using their authority to fire fan favorites like CD and to pour a can of Ric Flair's energy drink on top of Tony Schiavone without so much as a single repercussion. While the brothers Jackson could have probably just used their power to interfere in Kazuchika Okada's title match with Dax Harwood – as they can't be fired due to their founder's clause – this certainly elevated things in a major way and got fans booing the faction even more.

The Young Bucks held nothing back firing Christopher Daniels.

So what did the Young Bucks actually say when they decided to announce Christopher Daniels' firing from AEW? Well, it was a classic example of the duo's newfound love of HBO's Succession, as Matthew Jackson's words sounded right out of the Kendall Roy playbook.

Cut the music. Christopher Daniels, last week you spoke down to us, and you even put your hands on me. As an executive, you should know better! We're trying to clean up the locker room and the office from toxicity, we've been working hard for several months, and you're trying to screw things up! Like are you kidding me?” Matt Jackson told the crowd on Dynamite.

“So unfortunately Christopher Daniels, we're the bearer of bad news tonight: CD, we've got to let you go, you're fired. But don't worry, we're not evil, we're going to take care of your family, we got you a sweet severance package, you're gonna be getting a check for at least the next 30 days. And in an effort to, oh, I don't know, not make this so awkward, we've even arranged for a security escort out of the building immediately. As your EVPs, we want to say thank you so much for five years of kicka** work, you were a rock star, we love you to death, later days. Stick around for the rest of the show everybody, we've got some great action, can we get an AEW chant on three? 1-2-3 A-E-Dub, A-E-W, thank you all!”

Gosh, right down to calling calling CD  a rockstar, could that have been any more perfect? While the Young Bucks may be alienating AEW's casual audience with their very insider baseball gimmick, if it gets them reactions and helps to put over the likes of Daniels, FTR, Bryan Danielson, and Darby Allin, then really, everyone wins in the end.
